Free parking initiative in county towns

Galway County Council has voted unanimously to provide free parking in all county towns from 11am over the Christmas period.

The initiative was first introduced in 2014 to help boost local businesses by encouraging people to shop locally.

All County Council on-street parking will be free from 11am every day from the 3rd to the 28th of December.

Councillors agreed that the scheme has provided a much needed shot in the arm for businesses across the county.
