Free city show from fast-rising Come On Live Long

Hailing from Dublin and tipped for big things in the next 12 months, Come On Live Long will play a free show in Róisín Dubh on Saturday, September 9. The band’s work brings to mind the work of indie darlings The Cocteau Twins, but it also has the swampy guitar feel of a band like My Bloody Valentine.

Released in May, Come On Live Long’s latest album is In The Still. It opens with the slow-burning Sum of Its Parts, where the vocals of Louise Gaffney set the tone, augmented by her subtle keys playing.  But Come On Live Long is blessed with vocalists – guitarist Daithí O’Connor, bassist Ken McCabe and drummer Robert Ardiff all chip in with their voices.

In The Still is the second album from the band, and follows 2013’s Everything Fall. The group has been described by influential music blogger and writer Nialler9 as ‘one of the best live bands in Ireland’. Fans of quality indie music will be drawn to this band – Ardiff’s drumming style evokes that of The National’s Bryan Devendrof, and if you like The Xx, then Come On Live Long may appeal to you too.

This is music that’s pared back at times, but knows when to soar. Get the autumn off to a good start with this free show from Come on Live Long. Doors at 9pm.
