FOUR STILL HELD AFTER MILLTOWN DRUGS SEIZURE
Four men who were arrested following the seizure of drugs worth an estimated 2.5 million Euro in Milltown, North Galway are still being questioned at Mill Street Garda Station in Galway City this morning (Sunday).
Two men, one in his mid-40s and one in his mid-50s, were arrested initially after the drugs seizure at a warehouse on a secluded industrial estate off the busy N17 route in Milltown yesterday morning. Two other men, both in their 30s, were arrested when Gardai stopped and searched a car in Tuam yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.
The four men arrested are being questioned at Mill Street Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
It is understood that all those arrested are of Asian nationality.
Gardai from the Divisional Drugs Unit at Mill Street Garda Station in Galway, assisted by local Gardai and the Regional Support Unit swooped on the building in an industrial estate in Milltown. They seized approximately 3,000 cannabis plants and drug growing paraphernalia.
