Galway Bay Fm Newsroom
Four candidates will go head to head in their quests for nominations to represent Fianna Fail in two areas of Connemara at the party’s convention in Maam Cross this evening.
The head to head contests will be between candidates Josie Conneely and Mary Corbett and between Sean OTuairisg and John Burke.
As only one candidate has been nominated for the areas of Barna, Moycullen, Oughterard and South Connemara, the candidates that will be elected without a contest for these areas respectively are Noel Thomas, Seamus Walsh, MacDara Hosty and Mairtin Lee.
Over 400 Fianna Fáil members in Connemara are eligible to vote at the convention and a large turn out is expected for the event which starts this evening at 7 o’clock in Peacocks, Maam Cross.
In line with the decision of the members, 6 candidates will be elected to stand for Fianna Fáil and all voting members of the organisation in Connemara will have a vote in each contest at the convention.
