Four face trial over alleged assault in Eyre Square
Two brothers along with two others have been sent forward for trial charged with assaulting a youth in Eyre Square earlier this year.
One of the brothers is a 17-year-old juvenile who cannot be named for legal reasons. His 18-year-old brother cannot be named either, as naming him would identify the juvenile.
The other co-accused, Goodnews Onyenweson (19), 82 Binn Bán, Knocknacarra, and Mourthada Badiane (23), Roscahill, Oughterard, appeared with the brothers before the holiday sittings of Galway District Court.
All four are charged with assaulting a young man, causing him harm in Eyre Square on May 4 last. They are also charged with committing violent disorder together in the Square on the same date.
Garda Shane Travers gave evidence of serving a Book of Evidence on Mourthada Badiane at the courthouse on the morning of the court.
Detective Paul McNulty gave evidence of serving Books of Evidence on the remaining three defendants that morning also at the Courthouse.
Judge Fiona Lydon sent all four forward for trial to the next sittings of Galway Circuit Criminal Court commencing on October 8.
