FOUR ARRESTED IN TUAM FOLLOWING ALLEGED CAR HIJACKING

Four young men have been arrested by Tuam Gardai and files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions following an alleged hijacking of a car and the assault of the driver near the town.

Three of those arrested have now been released and a fourth man is still being questioned at Tuam Garda Station.

The alleged incident happened when a motorist was flagged down by a pedestrian near Ballyglunin on Monday night.

Four others jumped into the man’s car and asked the man to drive them to Galway.

Then they changed their mind and told him to drive them to Tuam.

At Athenry Road, Tuam he was assaulted and the youths drove off in his car.
