Foster stands by attacking policy

GALWAY United manager Ian Foster has reacted angrily to suggestions that his side have become predictable to play against, and his preferred tactic of playing a lone striker with two supporting players out wide is no longer working against teams that now know all too well how United play.

It is a criticism that has been made locally in the last few weeks, and was picked up on by the panel on RTÉ’s League of Ireland highlights show MNS recently, and it clearly angered the United manager when the matter was raised again after last Friday’s defeat at the hands of Cork City.

Speaking to the Galway media outside the dressing room after the game, Foster’s response when asked if United were now something of a “one trick pony” was short, sharp and to the point: “I think you’re talking absolute nonsense. That’s all I’m saying on that.”
