Former Tuam Mayor to leave politics

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Former Tuam Mayor and a past member of Galway Co Council, Tom Reilly, is to bow out of politics for health reasons.

The town councillor has confirmed to Galway Bay Fm news that, on medical advice, he has reluctantly decided not to contest the Fianna Fail convention next week for candidates in the Tuam electoral area of the county council.

Councillor Reilly has been to the forefront in many campaigns in the town including the current campign to keep the HSE’s residential facility at Toghermore House open.

Cllr Reilly has thanked his family for their support in coming to the decision and says he recalls many highlights in his political career.
