Fianna Fail Galway West T.D and former Minister, Frank Fahey has become the latest Oireachtas member to forego the double pension payment.

Deputy Fahey says he won’t draw his ministerial pension until after he retires from the Dail, because of the current state of the public finances.

All former Fine Gael and Labour Ministers – still sitting – have confirmed they’ll be writing to the Finance Minister to make arrangements to forego their pensions.
