Former MEP’s son to contest at selection convention
Galway Bay Fm Newsroom.
A son of former Galway MEP Mark Killilea from Belclare, Donagh Killilea, has confirmed that he will be contesting for a place on the Fianna Fail ticket at the party’s North Galway convention on Monday night.
The convention will vote to select the party’s candidates for the enlarged Tuam Electoral area on the county council in next May’s local elections.
Donagh Killilea hopes to be a candidate in place of Tuam’s Town Councillor Tom Reilly who announced he will not be contesting due to health reasons earlier this week.
It is expected that Tuam Town Councillor Eamon Kitt will also be contesting for one of the four places on the Fianna Fail team which should see sitting Councillors Michael Connolly and Mary Hoade being joined by two newcomers.
Among the other possible names mentioned to contest for a seat on the Fianna Fail ticket are Ballymoe community activist John Martin Griffin, Nora Fahy and Martin Gilligan from the Glenamaddy area.
