Former Mayor sets record straight on objections to Outer Bypass

The former Mayor of Galway, Green Party councillor, Niall Ó Brolcháin — who says he is “fed up of being misquoted” — has put into the public domain, correspondence relating to a Bord Pleanála submission he made on the city outer bypass.

Controversy raged in the run-up to the recent General Election, when political opponents of the Green Party candidate accused him of abusing his position as Mayor, by sending his submission on the
bypass on official mayoral headed notepaper.

At the time of the election, some political observers claimed that the controversy impacted negatively on Cllr. Ó Brolcháin’s election campaign.
