FORMER MAYOR OF GALWAY SUPPORTS SEAN QUINN
Date Published: 31-Jul-2012
Former Mayor of Galway Michael Crowe says he would have joined supporters of bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn in Sunday’s Cavan rally.
Several thousand people turned out in Ballyconnell in Cavan on Sunday evening in a solidarity march for the former head of the Quinn Group.
He, his son Seán Junior and nephew, Peter Darragh Quinn, have been before the High Court in recent months in relation to debts owed to former Anglo Irish Bank.
Fianna Fail City Cllr and former Mayor Michael Crowe says there is some merit in the argument that Sean Quinn has been made a scapegoat by the banks.
He says his legacy of creating thousands of jobs which successive governments failed to do should not be forgotten.
Cllr Crowe says although mistakes were definitely made by Sean Quinn, he would have stood in support of him had he been a local representative for the Cavan region.
