FORMER MAGDALENE LAUNDRY SITE TO OPEN AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REFUGE IN THE SUMMER
The official handover of the convent at the former Magdalene site in the city for a domestic violence refuge is expected to take place in the coming weeks.
The sisters of Mercy are donating the property behind the former Anglo Irish building at Forster street to Cope Galway on a 99 year lease.
Contracts will be signed in the next two weeks, and it’s hoped women and children will be transferred to the new facility during the Summer months.
