Former international for United role

Speculation is mounting that Galway United are set to unveil former Republic of Ireland defender Jeff Kenna as their new manager/Director of Football.
Kenna (37), who was capped 27 times for his country and is one of just six Irishmen to hold an English Premier Division winners medal, went public with his interest in the position recently, one of just two people to officially confirm their interest in the post.
The closing date for applications for the position of United managerwas yesterday, but the Galway City Tribune understands United and Kenna have held a number of discussions in the past week, and all that is now left to do is put pen to paper on a contract.
