FORMER GALWAY TD MAURA GEOGHEGAN QUINN NOMINATED AS EU COMMISSIONER

Galway native, Maire Geoghan-Quinn has been nominated as Ireland’s next EU Commissioner.

The Taoiseach has announced that the former Galway West TD and Justice minister is the Government’s preferred choice for the post.

She will now have to go through a hearing process at the European Parliament before she is fully appointed.

The Carna native would replace Charlie Mc Creevy, our current Commissioner.
