FORMER COUNTY MAYOR GIVES STRONG WATER WARNING

Former Mayor of County Galway, Councillor Willie Burke, is warning people living in the county to boil water before drinking it.

His statement comes following the latest revelations from the Environmental Protection Agency, which found 80 percent of water supplies in County Galway are below water quality standards.

Councillor Burke claims it’s the County Council’s failure to carry out monitoring and take a proactive approach, that has led to the poor standard of water quality in the county.

The matter is due to be discussed at a meeting of the Council later today.
