As lead singer of the band Cast, John Power has penned platinum-selling albums and sold out stadiums and arenas. In addition, he was a member of Britpop group The Las, who scored a massive hit with There She Goes.

John Power will be in Galway this Sunday, April 27, playing some of his hits alongside solo material at Monroe’s Live.

John is an avid Liverpool FC fan and is delighted to see his home team at the top of the Premier League. “I’m absolutely blown away,” he says.

“This ride has just been so unexpected but deep down in my heart of hearts I always thought we’d got something going with Brendan [Rodgers] – the way he holds himself and the team he was putting together. They wanted to play great football.

“To rise from seventh last season . . . the run we’re on  . . . the football we’re playing . . . the emotion it’s creating for Liverpool fans is just unbelievable. I’m rolling around from rapture to just stressed off me head.”

John is actively involved in the Hillsborough Justice Campaign and hopes its 25th anniversary will bring some peace to the families of the 96 victims who died in the stadium tragedy.

“It’s been 25 years of injustice, corruption and lies. It looks like the truth will out this year because there’s a big inquest just started. Finally, the families are going to get some sort of solace, start healing the wound.”

The last time John played in Ireland he was concentrating on material from his 2008 solo album, Stormbreaker, but on this tour he’s happy to revisit his back catalogue.
