Former All-Ireland medal winner fails to make Galway championship squad
2017 All-Ireland medal winners Adrian Tuohey, Niall Burke and Seán Loftus do not feature in the 34-strong Galway hurling panel named for the upcoming championship.
Tuohey is ruled out by a groin injury but both Burke and Loftus have been deemed surplus to requirement ahead of Galway’s Leinster Championship opener against Wexford on April 16. Another notable absentee is Turloughmore’s Conor Walsh.
Strong league displays from Tom Monaghan, Tiernan Killeen and Ronan Glennon made their promotion automatic; while other significant inclusions are young Clarinbridge pair Shane Ryan – son of former star Eanna – and Gavin Lee.
