IN a quiet cul-de-sac, at Newcastle in the city today, Gardai completed their forensic examinations of a semi-detached end house, where a young UK woman is alleged to have been seriously assaulted at the weekend.

The Gardai have confirmed to Galway Bay Fm that they believe the woman, and a man, were taken to the house in Clifdon Crescent, Newcastle by taxi prior to the assault taking place.

The young UK woman, who is in her early 20s, was at a hen party in the city when the assault took place. She is recovering from her injuries at University Hospital.

Galway Gardai are seeking the help of the public to apprehend the person involved in the alleged attack.

Detective Inspector Gerry Roche, who is involved in investigating the incident is again appealing to two taxi drivers, working in Galway city in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday), to contact them.

Several of the young woman’s friends were on their way to the airport yesterday (Sunday) when they heard that she was assaulted.

They returned to the city and are staying at a number of guest houses until their friend recovers from her injuries
