Forensic examination due on Connemara road after fatal collision

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Galway to Carraroe road remains closed at Tully this morning following a collision in which a man died last evening.

The 65 year old pedestrian was struck by a car while trying to cross the road close to Tully church,  shortly after 6p.m yesterday.

The driver of the car, who was the sole occupant was not injured.

The man’s body was taken to University Hospital Galway where a post mortem examination will be carried out.

Motorists are advised that the R336 will remain closed for the next few hours while a Garda forensic examination is carried out.

Diversions are in place from Spiddal and Ros a Mhil although there will be pedestrian access to local schools and businesses.

Gardaí in Salthill are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them at 091 514720.
