Ford gets Active with Fiestas

Ford launched two new Fiesta derivatives in south of France last month at either end of the model spectrum – the Fiesta Active and the Fiesta ST.

The Fiesta Active is the first in a new family of Active crossover models that combine rugged styling and a bit more versatility than the regular car.

The designers say that it adds even more practicality to the Fiesta in five-door body style, featuring a slightly higher ride-height for better treatment of rough road tracks and a higher driving position for more confident urban and highway driving.

Included are additional cladding, unique 17-inch alloy wheel designs, and roof rails for those with active lifestyles. Inside you get sports seats with exclusive materials and designs, standard SYNC 3 voice-activated connectivity and entertainment system, and available B&O PLAY premium audio for ultimate sound quality.

It is fitted with Ford’s multi-award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine offering up to 140 PS. Drivers can choose between Normal, Eco and Slippery driving modes to match conditions. Fiesta Active will arrive in Ireland in June and will be available in two versions Active and Active 2 and prices will start at €21,900.

It is more for drivers who like a bit of extra height and yet crave the driving characteristics of a regular Fiesta. Not only does it deliver on both fronts, there is a lot to like about the extra head height in the cabin and the engine is a revelation in this size.  Mark it down as a genuine contender.
