Food for thought – well it’s not for eating

Merlin Park has been rated among the worst five facilities in the country when it comes to hospital food — and Galway University Hospital also makes the bottom ten.
They achieved a 52 per cent and 53 per cent satisfaction rating respectively in the latest survey revealed by the Rate My Hospital website yesterday. That contrasted to the 90 per cent satisfaction rating enjoyed by St Luke’s Cancer Hospital which topped the list of the 52 hospitals rated in the survey.
But Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe fared significantly better with a rating of 69 per cent to put it into 13th place in the league table. Around 40 per cent of the country’s hospitals were judged by patients to be below par for food quality and service, according to the findings of irishhealth.com’s online hospital ratings survey.
