Florida court overturns conviction of man with Galway connections
Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Florida appeals Court has overturned the murder conviction of an FBI agent, John Connolly, who has close connections to Galway.
John Connolly’s father was a native of Moycullen.
Connolly was closely associated with Boston criminal, James ‘Whitey’ Bulger.
An Appeal Court in Florida has quashed the conviction of former FBI agent, John Connolly on murder charges.
He shared police information with Bulger.
Connolly, whose father emigrated from Moycullen to Boston, got a life sentence in 2002 over the murder of a business man in Florida.
It was feared the murdered man might give information and Connolly was accused of tipping-off Bulger which led to a hit man shooting the victim.
Connolly remains in prison pending any further appeal.
