FIVE CANDIDATES TO COMPETE FOR MULLINS COUNCIL SEAT

Five candidates from the Ballinasloe electoral area will compete for the county council seat left vacant following the election of Michael Mullins to the Senate.
The deadline for nominations expired at 6 o’ clock last evening.
Two former members of Galway county council, Michael Finnerty and Michael John Kilgannon have thrown their names into the hat.
Community activists, Sean Ryan from New Inn and Dan Dowling from Ballinasloe and business-man Jarlath Loughnane from Monivea have also joined the race.
The convention to elect Michael Mullins replacement will be held in Ballinasloe on Thursday the 9th of June.
