FIRST COUNT TO BEGIN AT GALWAY WEST CONSTITUENCY

Tallies indicate Michael D Higgins is the clear winner in Galway West at 57 % – representing 25 thousand 462 votes.

His nearest rival Sean Gallagher is at 18%, followed by Martin McGuiness at 10%, and Gay Mitchell at 4%.

David Norris is at 3% in Galway West tallies as is Claregalway resident Dana Rosemary Scallon.

Mary Davis has secured 779 votes in the constituency.

Claregalway Resident Dana Rosemary Scallon is at 3.4%.

The first count there is expected to commence at half past 3.

Turnout in Galway West is estimated to be at around 44%

In Galway East, final tallies put Michale D Higgins ahead.

M.D.Higgins: 45%,S.Gallagher: 29%,M.McGuinness: 11%, G.Mitchell: 6.5%

D.R.Scallon: 3.2%,D.Norris: 2.5%,M.Davis: 2.2%
