Firecracker goes off in face

A SIXTEEN years old city boy has lost the sight in one eye following an injury caused by a Hallowe’en firecracker.

The boy from Mervue received a serious injury to his eye on Wednesday night after a firecracker exploded in a neighbour’s house.

It is believed the firecracker, which are illegal in this country, was in a bottle and hadn’t ignited initially.

When the teenager went to investigate, the firecracker went off in his face.

It is reported that his family are devasted by the incident which is believed will have serious implications for an expected sporting future.
