FIRE SERVICES BATTLE MULTIPLE GORSE BLAZES UNTIL MIDNIGHT

Emergency service fire crews from the city and county battled multiple gorse fires from areas in Barna out to Spiddal until midnight last night.

The fire services pulled back from a gorse fire in Baile An TSléibhe shortly after midnight.

Up to seven appliances were assisting efforts over the period from the city, Mountbellew, Tuam, Loughrea and Athenry.

In Knockarassar in Moycullen, two tankers and four appliances controlled a gorse fire with the last appliance leaving around midnight.

Other pockets of gorse fire were dealt with in areas including Boley Beg East and across Barna.
