Fire services association says top management in Galway should be reduced
Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Irish Fire and Emergency Services Association claims there are too many manager and not enough firefighters in Galway.
The Association is hitting back at comments made by a County Council official about fire services in the county.
Director of Services, Eugene Cummins recently made comments that the location of fire stations in Galway would be based on risk rather than geography.
He also said that people should invest in smoke alarms as they would have a better chance at saving a life.
IFESA says the comments are an insult to the dedication and professionalism of fire-fighters in the county.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm News, John Kidd from IFESA says management needs to be cut and not local fire stations.
Director of Services, Eugene Cummins explains that he was trying to say that smoke alarms would reduce the risk.
