Galway Bay fm newsroom – The new Knockncarra Community Centre had to be evacuated this afternoon (22/8) while an open day was underway at the building.

Up to 80 people had to leave the building shortly after 2p.m when the fire alarm went off.

The building was made safe within ten minutes and visitors were allowed to return.

There was no fire at the facility and it was just a false alarm.

However shortly after that, the fire alarm went off again, resulting in a second evacuation at the centre, but visitors have been allowed to return again.

We’ll have an extended feature on Knocknacarra Community Centre on FYI Galway from 5 this evening.
