The last Galway to Dublin flights take off this evening, raising a question mark over such a service in the future.

No airline has yet been found to replace the Aer Arann service from Carnmore to Dublin airport which had up to 40 thousand passengers last year.

At its peak, Aer Arann flew up to 100 thousand passengers on the route every year.

The decision to cut the service was made following the withdrawel of Government subsidies for the route from July onwards.

PSO arrangements also end for Knock and Sligo from today.
