FILE FOR DPP OVER CLAREGALWAY ARMED RAID

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to an armed robbery in Claregalway on Monday night [16/7].

A 25 year old Galway man entered Hughes Off-licence in Claregalway at 11pm on Monday and threatened staff with a knife and baseball bat.

He stole a sum of money and cigarettes, however two shop assistants struggled with the robber and managed hold him down until Gardaí arrived at the scene.
