Fifteen jobs at new Aldi store in Mountbellew

An application for an off-licence for the sale of wine, beer and spirits has been granted for a new Aldi store in Mountbellew. It will provide valuable employment in the area.

The new store opens today (Thursday), and will certainly provide a consumer choice in the immediate area.

The application was brought by Senior Counsel Derry O’Donovan at Ballinasloe District Court on behalf of Aldi and he stated that it was for the new store in Mountbellew. He said that 15 new jobs would be provided at the store.

He said that the applications had been made and the notifications issued to comply with the new application being made.

The Senior Counsel spoke about the capacity of the store while management said that it would be employing 15 staff, opening in Mountbellew today.

Among those fully prepared for today’s opening of ALDI’s brand new Mountbellew store on College Road in the village is Store Manager Jolita Mazulyte, who has been part of the ALDI team for 16 years, previously working in Celbridge, Rathmines, Clane, Edenderry, Tullamore, Mullingar, Athlone and Knocknacarra.

“Like so many people who join ALDI, I’ve been fortunate to benefit from the career progression opportunities available. I started with ALDI as a Store Assistant in 2006, before being promoted to Deputy Store Manager in 2012, and then progressed to Assistant Store Manager in 2016,” she said.

“So when the opportunity arose to manage the new store in Mountbellew, ALDI’s eleventh store in Galway, I knew my experience in regional towns throughout the Midlands would be of benefit. Since my first day with ALDI in 2006, I always had the ambition to open a new store.

“I have been living in Galway since August 2020, and my partner’s family have their roots in Tuam and Ballygar so we’re excited about what ALDI’s arrival means for the area.  Households and families around Mountbellew will be able to shop at their local ALDI and enjoy our fantastic range of quality fresh produce.

“We will also join all of ALDI’s Galway stores to donate surplus food to those who need it most through ALDI’s FoodCloud partnership. We will also be part of ALDI’s Community Grants network, providing an annual €500 bursary grant to a local charity,” she added.
