FF leader approaches Galway TD to join party
It has emerged that fresh approaches have been made by Fianna Fáil to Independent Galway West TD Noel Grealish to join the party.
A successful headhunt would give the party two seats in the constituency . . . along with the one currently being held by veteran TD Éamon Ó Cuív.
It is understood that the approaches were made in person by FF leader Micheál Martin earlier this week as all of the main parties were trying to form a government.
Deputy Grealish told the Galway City Tribune that he had been talking to Micheál Martin on a couple of occasions but would not say if the prospects of him joining Fianna Fáil were discussed.
“Of course, I was talking to Fianna Fáil but so, too, have I had discussions with Enda Kenny and Fine Gael, who were both seeking my support in the formation of a government.
“At the moment, that is all I have to say on the matter. My priority is to be part of the decision making in the next Dáil with a view to delivering for Galway West,” Deputy Grealish added.
