FERRY WORKER IN SERIOUS CONDITION AFTER FALL AT KILRONAN PIER

A 73 year old man is in a serious condition in hospital after he received head injuries in a fall at Kilronan Pier on the Aran Island of Inis Mor yesterday [Jul 1].

The incident took place at around 11.30 yesterday morning when the ferry worker was at the rear of the Ceol na Farraige passenger ferry and fell down a stairwell by the hull.

The city resident was an engineer on the boat which is owned by Aran Islands Ferry Company.

After receiving medical attention from a GP at the scene, he was then airlifted to University Hospital Galway.
