A third attempt to ship two Aran Ferries to East Africa is unlikely to go ahead at Galway Docks today.

Several official investigations are underway after tragedy was narrowly averted yesterday when cables lifting one of the ferries onto a cargo ship snapped.

Three men on board the ‘Clann na nOileáin’ were discharged from hospital last night after they sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The ‘Thor Gitta’ cargo ship was sent here to pick up the two passenger ferries after the first cargo ship, the 7,000 tonne MV Pantanal, ran aground in Casla Bay last week.
