One of the world’s greatest James Brown impersonators will take to the stage again at Monroe’s Live of Dominick St on Friday, February 25 from 11pm.

Born in the American state of Kentucky and now living in Ballina, Co Mayo, Buck Taylor will be bringing his new band featuring Claire Malone (formerly of Abbaesque and the Commitments) and Galway brass prodigy Danny Healy, a founding member of the Black Magic Band.

Taylor is also recording a self-composed track in March which he hopes to release nationally this summer and will be his first original release in Ireland.

Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, Donald ‘Buck’ Taylor has been singing and playing since childhood. Together with his brother, Bird Taylor, he formed the award winning Taylormade band, which won the ‘Best of Boston’ (Boston Globe) Award twice in the 1980s.

Renowned for his unparalleled vocal ability, Buck Taylor has performed and recorded with many legendary artists including Dan Akyroyd and The Blues Brothers, (Booker T and The MGs), Aerosmith, Patti Labelle, Martha Reeves, Jimmy Buffet, New Kids on the Block, Peter Wolf (J. Geils Band), Dr John, Joan Jett, James Taylor and Livingstone Taylor and many more.

In fact it’s no surprise that Buck Taylor found his niche in the soul revival, as it is in his genes with the legendary Memphis soul legend, Johnny Taylor, being his first cousin.

Tickets for Buck’s show at at Monroe’s Live, Friday February 25 are available from Monroe’s Taverns and Zhivago Records. €10
