The finest foods from Connemara will be celebrated next Wednesday, May 24, at a special event in Letterfrack.

Bog Week’s theme this year is Celebration of The Landscape and local man, Jonathan Keane, who is Head Chef of The Lodge at Ashford will lead this culinary event, which showcases local and seasonal ingredients. Jonathan will create a memorable dining experience following his ‘circle of flavours’ method. All food for the feast will come from within 30 miles of Letterfrack.

The annual Bog Week Festival, which officially begins on May 28, will have its usual electric mix of music, art, walks, talks, wildlife and sport. Highlights include a book and CD launch on June 4, celebrating the Letterfrack Poetry trail.

Bog Week is run by the Conamara Environmental Education & Cultural Centre (CEECC) which was set up in 1984 by three local teachers.

CEECC has won several awards, including the top awards for arts and heritage in County Galway.

“This festival provides a space in which the community, young and old, can express themselves in a variety of different ways,” says Festival Director Leo Hallissey of the event.

The Connemara Feast takes place next Wednesday, May 24, at 7.30pm in the Courtyard @ Letterfrack.
