FEASIBILITY STUDY ON LIGHT RAIL FOR GALWAY
Date Published: 09-Sep-2008
A feasibility study is to be carried out on a light rail system for Galway city.
An estimated 20 percent of traffic could be taken off Galway city roads if proposals for the GLUAS light railway goes ahead.
Speaking at a presentation to city councilors yesterday evening, chairman of the GLUAS campaign, Brendan Holland said that the estimates were based on the LUAS in Dublin city and light rail in English cities.
Under the proposals, a network of two lines would take in a total of 64 stops that stretches across 21 km of the city.
