Galway City Council is leaving itself open to being sued over the 8 metal structures left in the River Corrib after the Volvo Ocean Race.

That’s according to city councillor Catherine Connolly who says the Harbour Master is very concerned about the risks they pose.

City manager Joe O’Neill disagreed that the council could be sued and said he has contacted Let’s Do It Global to get the structures removed.

He says they are waiting for the right tidal conditions to carry out the removal but Cllr Connolly says an enforcement notice is needed.
