Fashion queens ready for the off

THAT time of year is upon us once again when frocks are rooted out from the back of the wardrobe, the best sandals are polished and hats are dusted down in preparation for the biggest annual fashion extravaganza in the west – Ladies’ Day at the Galway Races.
With several prizes up for grabs at the event next week and less money in the pockets to splash out on a new outfit, Galway girls don’t have to spend a fortune to wear that winning outfit.
Ladies’ Day at the Galway Races means big business these days, not only for fashion stores and hair salons but beauty emporiums are also cashing in with a growing number of women realising that when it comes to scooping the Best Dressed Lady prize on the day, competition will be tough and judges are looking for the full package.
With this year’s prize bigger and better than ever before, one lucky lady will walk away with a one carat diamond solitaire pendant valued at €8,000, €2,000 in cash and €2,000 in vouchers for a shopping spree at Anthony Ryan’s.
The clothing giant has been sponsoring the competition for as long as anyone can remember and this year Anthony Ryan’s is also sponsoring the race for the Best Hat, the prize for which is a
luxury trip for two to Boston including flights and accommodation valued at €1500.
