The heartbroken family of a 40 year old electrician and father of two are maintaining a bedside vigil after he was left with serious head injuries following a violent attack in Tuam over the weekend.

Adrian Ansbro was set upon by a number of individuals, and it is understood that investigating Gardai – having combed through extensive CCTV footage – are now in a position to identify several individuals who were in the area at the time of the attack.

In the meantime, Adrian’s family remain by his bedside in Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital, hoping that he will make a full recovery – and the whole community in the North Galway area of Cortoon have been offering their full support.

The grotto at Cortoon church has become a focal point for his friends and neighbours in recent days, with an ongoing vigil praying that that the former club goalkeeper will pull through.

Adrian had been out in Tuam on Saturday night and was apparently on his way home when the incident occurred at Foster Place, several hundred metres from where he had been socialising, according to Gardaí.

He had been in the company of others at the time of the incident, and Gardaí are anxious to talk to all those present at the time.
