Family tuned in for Brendan’s X-Factor odyssey

The proud parents of Tuam’s X Factor star have every confidence he’s in the competition for the long haul – if only he gets the right song.

Brendan Murray himself admitted that he was ‘really, really nervous’ ahead of Sunday night’s vote as he scraped through the second round of the starmaker show.

The 21 year old had been tipped as being one of the favourites – so it came as something of a shock when he was left struggling for survival.

The former Eurovision finalists ended up in a sing-off to survive for another week – and avoided being part of a double elimination.

His parents Frank and Julieanne Murray, who are regulars in the X Factor audience, are now just hoping that the right song is selected for their son to perform.

“It hasn’t been great the past couple of weekends so we are hopeful that a song suitable to Brendan’s voice is selected for him to sing.

“There is no doubt that it has been an incredible journey but at the end of the day, he is still an apprentice plumber but he would dearly love to carve out a career in music,” Frank told the Connacht Tribune.
