The family of a cadet, who died in a plane crash in North Connemara in 2009, says they will take their case to the European Court of Human Rights.

They want a military inquiry into the crash, which killed 22 year-old Cadet, David Jevens and Captain Derek Furniss, re-opened.

The Air Corps training crash happened on the Galway-Mayo border on October 12th 2009.

Cadet Jevens’ parents, Donal and Liz, have received a letter from Justice Minister, Alan Shatter, stating that some of the family’s concerns don’t directly bear on the accident.

According to today’s Irish Independent however, the family feels that the military inquiry didn’t take into account new evidence that emerged during the inquests.
