Familiar faces in Galway’s newest rock band

The Cabin Collective, a new nine-piece Galway rock band, will play a showcase concert on Friday April 26 at 10pm in Galway’s Taibhdhearc Theatre. The show is part of the Cúirt Festival of Literature.

The Cabin Collective, which takes its name from the Scandinavian style log cabin outside Tuam where the members rehearse, features four singer/songwriters in its line-up.

They are Leo Moran of the Saw Doctors, who wrote Clare Island and Same Oul’ Town for that band, and his fellow Saw Doctor, Anto Thistlethwaite, a founding member of the Waterboys back in the 1980s, who now lives in Gort.

The singer element of the group is completed by Noelie McDonnell whose credits include the hit song Nearly Four and Keith Mullins whose new album, May It Mean Something to Someone will be released this summer.

The other members of the Cabin Collective include some seriously talented musicians including Dave Clancy on pedal steel and keys, Eimhin Cradock on guitar and vocals, Larry Kelly on guitar, Michael Coen on bass, and Rickie O’Neill on drums.

With the Saw Doctors currently on a hiatus from touring and performing, The Cabin Collective marks Leo Moran’s first musical venture outside of the band he formed 27 years ago.

Tickets for The Cabin Collective concert on April 26 are priced €12 and are available from the Town Hall Theatre Galway at 091 569777 or online from http://www.tht.ie
