Factory Moves Out of City

A CITY based bio-medical company has relocated to Spiddal to a purpose built facility where they intend to double their workforce.

Proxy Biomedical Ltd officially opened its new premises at Spiddal yesterday (Monday)after relocating from the Mervue Business Park, where they had been based since 2002.

The sixteen strong workforce is expected to double in the next two years as the company expands its business, now that it can design, manufacture and market from their new base. Peter Gingras, founder and Managing Director of Proxy Biomedical, said he had chosen Galway as a base for his company originally because it had the right business environment and because of the quality of life the city and environs had to offer.

Mr. Gingras said: “We chose Galway mainly for the resources offered in the life sciences sector and the fact the county contains a large cluster of companies in the biomedical and pharmaceutical sectors.
