Eyre Square facelift under-way

GALWAY City Council is stepping up preparations for the Volvo Ocean Race stopover with plans for a makeover of Eyre Square.

Included in the eleventh hour preparations are the planting of trees on the western (Skeffington Arms) side of Eyre Square, the installation of a transparent protective case on the Browne Doorway and the sand-blasting of the tourist office.

Meanwhile, details of high frequency Park and Ride services, late night buses, extra trains are carparks in city schools are also being finalised.
