Extra time granted to build Ballinasloe neighbourhood centre

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Extra time has been granted to build a neighbourhood centre in Ballinasloe.
Permission for the development at Canal Road and Sli na Abhainn in the townlands of Dunlo and Pollboy was due to expire later this year.
Planned works include three mixed use blocks to contain apartments, a creche, a restaurant, coffee shop and retail units.
Peter Melville sought to extend the period of planning permission previously approved in 2009 as it was due to expire in November this year.
He stated work had not yet commenced due to the economic downturn and lack of available finance.
An extention of permission has now been granted by county planners subject to one condition concerning the developer’s bond.
Permission will now cease in July 2019.
