Extra patrols

Extra patrols will be launched by Gardaí and community wardens throughout the city this week to prevent bonfires this Hallowe’en.

Firefighters, gardaí and City Council officials are pleading with people to have regard for property if they insist on lighting bonfires tomorrow night.

The City Council has reiterated a warning that anyone who provides waste material for burning in a Halloween bonfire will be committing a criminal offence and would be liable for prosecution.

The Council have written to all tyre companies in the area, advising them to be vigilant about people buying tyres for use in bonfires, and not to leave any outside their premises.
