Extension of lower VAT rate vital for Galway tourist sector
Galway bay fm newsroom – Galway West Labour TD Derek Nolan is calling for an extension to the lower nine percent VAT rate which he says is vital for the local tourism sector.
The special rate was introduced in summer 2011 and will remain in place until the end of this year.
Deputy Nolan has now raised the matter with Finance Minister Michael Noonan and says it should be included in the upcoming budget.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Deputy Nolan says extending the rate to 2014 would maintain much needed jobs locally and sustain the local economy
