The Nearby, an exhibition of work from Jackie Askew, Judy O’Sullivan Sheila Vollmer, is the latest show from the Kinvara-based artists’ collective KAVA. It’s now running online on the KAVA website and social media platforms and will continue until Tuesday, June 30.

For this show, a mixture of paintings and sculpture, the three artists explore the notion of the ‘nearby’ in light of recent circumstances, and offer a glimpse of life before and after the restrictions imposed by Covid-19.

Jackie Askew and Sheila Vollmer first met at St Martins Art School in London in the late 1980s, after which they went on to establish their studios in Forest Hill, South London. They have subsequently maintained a close friendship and working relationship.

Judy O’Sullivan and Jackie Askew met at The Courthouse Studios in Ennistymon, County Clare, in the early 2000s where they both had studios.

All three artists exhibited together in a group show Teeth Stronger than Diamond at the Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon in 2018 and each of them has exhibited widely at home and abroad. Go to kava.ie to see the work and for more information.
